The four different types of memory cards determine the "speed" in which images are recorded onto the card. The faster the speed, the higher the "continuous shoot & video recording capability.

Standard = 5 MB/sec.
Ultra-II = 10 MB/sec.
Extreme III = 20 MB/Sec.
Extreme IV = 40 MB/Sec.
