Canon Compact Camera Lenses & Adapters Canon Compact Camera Lenses & Adapters
In addition to Canon's EF SLR Lenses, Canon provide a number of wide angle and telephoto lenses and lens adapters for their compact camera PowerShot range.

Canon EF-M Lenses
Interchangeable lenses designed especially for use with the EOS M. Ultra-compact and lightweight they combine easy portability with superb quality optics for exceptional everyday photography.

In addition to compatibility with Canon’s existing EF lenses, accessories and Speedlites, the EOS M launches with its own bespoke range of compact accessories. Two new EF-M lenses offer portability and high performance when using the new model the EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM standard zoom and the EF-M 22mm f/2 STM pancake lens. Both feature new Stepper Motor technology for exceptionally smooth AF performance, as well as precision Canon optics, while their compact designs offer the perfect form-factor to complement the camera’s pocket-sized body.

Canon EF-S Lenses Canon EF-S Lenses
The compact sensor size of the EOS 30D, 40D, 50D and EOS 450D, 400D & 350D result in a useful 1.6x multiplier effect on the focal length of attached lenses. However this also makes it technically difficult to achieve a wide angle of view with traditional lenses.

Canon has responded by extending the EF lens range to include new wide angle EF-S lenses purpose built for these cameras. EF-S lenses (with the white mounting spot) will not fit conventional EOS cameras.
Canon Prime Lenses
Fixed focal length lenses (prime lenses) generally offer a wider maximum aperture than zoom lenses. From ultra-wide angle lenses ideal for indoor shooting to long telephoto lenses extensively used for wildlife, sports and news photography Canon has the fixed focal length lens to suit you.

Canon Zoom Lenses Canon Zoom Lenses
Zoom lenses are very convenient. The equivalent of two or more fixed focal length lenses in one unit. The maximum aperture of some zoom lenses changes as you alter the focal length, but through-the-lens (TTL) metering takes this into account to give correct exposure.

Canon Macro Lenses
To bring small things into full-sized view, select from one of the lenses in this category. Macro lenses can uncover detail that would be impossible to detect by the eye and give new perspective to extremely minute subjects such as insects or the petals of a small flower.

Canon Close-Up Lenses Canon Close-Up Lenses
Close-up lenses screw into the filter thread at the front of a camera lens. Sometimes referred to as supplementary lenses because they are used in addition to another lens.
A general guidance, the Type 250D is designed for camera lenses with focal lengths from 35mm to 135mm. The Type 500D is more suited to lenses with focal lengths from 70mm to 300mm. However, good results are possible using the close-up lenses with focal lengths outside these prescribed ranges.
Fitting a close-up lens to a camera lens increases the maximum size of the image that can be produced.
Canon Tilt & Shift Lenses
These special lenses with their tilt and shift movements further expand photographic possibilities. Tilt movements allow you to obtain a wide depth of field even at the maximum aperture and still keep the entire subject in focus. Shift movements correct the trapezoidal effect seen in pictures taken of tall objects such as buildings, so that the subject does not look distorted.

Canon Extenders Canon Extenders
Extender is Canon's name for a teleconverter. These high-performance accessories multiply the effective focal length of an attached lens by 1.4x or 2x. For example, a 200mm lens with Extender 1.4x has an effective focal length of 280mm: with the Extender 2x, this increases to 400mm. Extenders are only compatible with selected EF lenses, including the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM, EF 70-200mm f/4L, EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM, EF 400mm f/4 DO IS USM and fixed length L-series lenses of 135mm or higher
