Please do not confuse the Close-Up Lens 500D with the Canon EOS 500D SLR camera. These are two different Canon products.
Close-up lenses screw into the filter thread at the front of a camera lens. Sometimes referred to as supplementary lenses because they are used in addition to another lens and they screw into the filter thread of an existing lens.
A general guidance, the Type 250D is designed for camera lenses with focal lengths from 35mm to 135mm. The Type 500D is more suited to lenses with focal lengths from 70mm to 300mm. However, good results are possible using the close-up lenses with focal lengths outside these prescribed ranges.
Fitting a close-up lens to a camera lens increases the maximum size of the image that can be produced.
